Make the Most of Your Summer Workout
Summer is here and it’s an ample time to bring your workout into the sunshine. Even if you have a gym membership, try to get out in the sun because there are some value from sunshine and outdoors that your body will just love. Make the most of your summer workout and take it to the outdoors.
You can have the best summer workout ever by trading in the fluorescent lighting for fresh air, but you still have to be mindful of the sun and heat. Here are a few tips to help with that beach body.
Mind the Sun
Go for your workout when the sun is not too high in the sky, this will help you avoid being a hot silly mess that will deter you from working out more. An early morning or evening jog or bike ride will be a great time and keep the heat exhaustion to a minimum.
This will also keep your skin safer. Remember to use sunscreen, hats and sunglasses on your outdoor adventures to keep your body safe from the elements.
Water! Water! Water!
Staying hydrated is key when working out in the summer. Working out in hot weather is going to make you sweat even more than usual, but remember sweat is a good thing as long as you are drinking water. Try drinking a full water bottle an hour or two before you exercise to avoid that sloshing feeling while you are on the move.
Replenish Those Electrolytes
If you are sweating a lot on your summer workouts, you need to remember to eat something salty and drink a sports drink. Both of these will help replenish your electrolytes. If your outside workout lasts more than an hour be sure to bring a sports drink with you.
Enjoy the weather and enjoy your health. Mix up your workout activities to keep it interesting, you can try cycling or swimming or playing sports with the family. Just get out there and get moving.
